Generating AI Images for Your Church Media Ministry

As a media director for a church, it can be challenging to keep up with all the demands of creating content and managing resources. That’s where AI (artificial intelligence) image generators can come in handy. These tools allow you to quickly and easily create custom images that are both unique and visually appealing, saving you time and resources in the process.

In this post, we’ll focus on how to use AI image generators to create custom images for your church work, and how to get the best results. We’ll cover some of the top tools for creating free images using AI, such as DALL-E 2, DreamStudio, and MidJourney. Of these options, I’ve found Midjourney to be the best at producing beautiful images and graphics.

Using these tools is simple – you just give them a text prompt and they create an image from the prompt. However, getting great results requires a well-written prompt. For example, if you want an image related to a sermon series on “One Man Can Make a Difference,” simply inputting that phrase may not give you the best results.

Instead, try specifying something like “close up portrait of one man in suit and tie facing camera, large crowd in the background blurred, full face details, hyper realistic –ar 3:2” for more targeted results

To give you an idea of how you can use these images for your church, let’s say we have a senior citizen’s activity of skydiving (ok, maybe this isn’t a great activity). But with a well-written prompt like “Senior citizen skydiving, epic lighting, ultra detailed, photorealistic, cinematic, with negative space for text –ar 3:2”, we can create an image that is both visually appealing and relevant to the activity.

In a future post, we’ll show you how to take the concept from Midjourney and use another program to create designs using real people’s faces. We’ll also cover how to create usable logos using AI tools.

For higher quality images, consider using Midjourney, but as a Christian, you may want to pay for the Direct Message option to avoid seeing others’ work in the public feed.

Although MidJourney is the best at producing beautiful images and graphics, one thing I don’t love about it is the public area where you generate your free images. To get around this, I personally paid $10 to generate all images in a Direct Message area. This allows me to get the images without having to see others’ work.

I hope this post has been helpful and inspires you to try out Artificial Intelligence image generators in your church media ministry. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different text prompts and remember, specific prompts work best. With a little practice, you’ll be well on your way to creating beautiful and unique images that enhance your ministry graphics.
